Botho

I am because you are.

A Human essential

Botho | Ubuntu

Derived from the word – Motho – Human. One can then conclude that botho is having the essence of being human. It is the ability to recognise yourself in others and treat them and your work with them, with honour, dignity and respect.

The same botho beckons me to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which I stand today – Australia. I honor the wisdom, resilience, and care for the land demonstrated by the elders, both past and present, and future generations yet to come.

I, also, wish to acknowledge the roots from which I have grown. To my mother, Chipo Taunyane nee Mothobi, Kuku Mma Lilly, Batateghulu Wisiso Mothobi, Kukughulu Mma Wisiso Manshabane Miriam Mothobi, Batateghulughulu Nyuwani James Mothobi – your stories, wisdom, and spirit guide me as I navigate through life, allowing me to extend the hand of Botho beyond my immediate surroundings.

Ndo Boka.
